View Large On Black This is IVAN. Ivan is a Blue Russian that we picked up from the animal shelter 6 years ago. Ivan "The Terrible" or "St. Ives" depending on whether you are talking to myself or my husband. In my husbands eyes this cat can do no wrong and they are "best buds". This poor fellow has had a rough time lately. He didn't come home one evening and come morning there was still no sign of him. This handsome fellow NEVER misses a meal so we knew something was wrong. Just as I was ready to put up flyers, he draged himself onto our back deck. He was in rough shape. He couldn't walk on his back end, and he was cut wide open across the hindquarters. He was rushed to the vets in tears(my husband is sensitive). He had a dislocated hip and had lost an awful lot of skin from the bottom of the inside of one ankle all the way up the top of his hienie. This fellow wore a cone for 3 months (would not stop licking), he went in for ! sutures 5 times and staples once, was force fed countless antibiotics and dealt with one really nasty infection that wouldn't let up. He was confined to a kennel that contained his food, water, bed, and litter for over a month, as well as spending a lot of time at the accomodations at the vets. He is back to 100%, the fur has grown back and the only sign of his trials are a few more white hairs. It has been a rough time for us all, and I think that Ivan weathered it better then his human companions. We love you handsome fellow, but you did cost a Big Screen T.V. in vet bills. lol!
